Japan MMA Flashback: Aoki Dominates JZC At DREAM 2

Calvan was able to counter or escape, but looked completely out of sync as he generated almost no offense whatsoever over the 15 minutes.

Most of the damage in this fight came from Yoons ground and pound from full mount, and he controlled the tempo from the outset. Raiders Upset Visiting Eagles

The Oakland Raiders scored the only touchdown of the game in the first quarter and then prevailed in the kicking duel that followed en route to a--9 upset of the visiting Philadelphia Eagles. Much maligned quarterback Jamarcus Russell played his best game of the season despite two interceptions, throwing for 224 yards and a touchdown. It was only the Raiders' second win of the season, and only the Eagles' second loss. Oakland now stands at 2-4 while Philadelphia slid to 3-2.

NFL betting enthusiasts who backed the Raiders as a whopping +14 home underdog were never in any trouble as Oakland took the lead late in the first quarter and never relinquished it. Oakland evened their mark against the NFL pointspread at 3-3, while the Eagles dropped to 3-2 against the number. The 22 points scored went well UNDER the posted total of 40'. It was the Raiders' fourth UNDER in six outings, while it was the Eagles' first UNDER of the season against four OVER verdicts.

After the victory, Raiders' coach Tom Cable said for the first time all season his team focused their intensity in the right direction:

"We went out and threw a fight on somebody and said, 'Enough. Let's play. That's all you can say. There's no magic words or anything like that."

Last week's 44-7 loss to the New York Giants may have served a wakeup call to the Raiders. In particular, they were offended by comments made by Giants' linebacker Antonio Pierce that the game 'felt like playing a scrimmage'. The Raiders will try to put together an actual winning streak as they host the New York Jets next Sunday. Oakland is a +7 home underdog with the total set at 35. The Crimson Tide quickly answered, tying the score on an eighteen yard run by Glen Coffee and taking their first lead of the game at 10-7 several minutes later on a 30 yard FG by Leigh Tiffin. Florida came right back in the second quarter, tying the game on a Jonathan Phillips' yard FG and taking a 17-10 lead into the halftime break on another Tebow TD pass, this one to David Nelson from five yards out. Alabama regained control in the third quarter, tying the score on a 2 yard Mark Ingram touchdown run and then regaining the lead at 20-17 in the final seconds of the period on another Tiffin field goal. Florida put them away for good in the fourth, however, on a 1 yard Jeffrey Demps TD run followed by Tebows third touchdown strike of the day.

As was the case so often during 2008, Tim Tebow was the big star for the Gators. The junior QB had 216 yards passing with 3 TDs and no interceptions plus fifty seven yards on the ground. Florida head coach Urban Meyer praised Tebow effusively in his post game comments:

"I've had some great players, and I've got some great players on this team. But I've never had one like this. Tim's got something special inside him. I'm not talking about throwing. An engineer named Roger Mayer is credited with inventing the first electric guitar effects device, a "fuzz" box, that developed into the contemporary distortion and overdrive pedal, and the wah pedal.

Packers' QB Aaron Rodgers was sacked five times, but Green Bay used a big first half offensive outburst to coast to a 26-0 NFL victory over the Detroit Lions. Rodgers threw two first half touchdown passes which was complimented by four Mason Crosby field goals as Green Bay improved to 3-2 on the season.

NFL football betting enthusiasts who backed the Packers as -14 home dogs easily cashed their tickets with Green Bay's third pointspread cover in five games. Detroit slipped to 2-4 against the spread. The 26 points scored went UNDER the posted total of 48'.

In the victory, Packers' receiver Donald Driver passed Sterling Sharpe for first place on the franchise reception list. Sharpe finished his career with 596 receptions, Driver now has 602. After the game, he talked about the accomplishment:

I thought about this meaning and came to realize that there is a stark similarity between Michael Jackson's life and his popular moon walk. This post will attempt to bring about the morals we can learn from the similarity. In no way am I attempting to degrade Michael Jackson and his achievements but will only focus on the moral side.

Gaining over 750 million purchased records, winning 13 Grammy Awards, and reaching the no. 1 spot 13 times with his singles, Michael Jackson became the most successful entertainer of his time. Not including his music catalog, which is supposedly worth more than a billion dollars, the King of Pop's lifetime earning was estimated to have reached more than $ 500 million dollars.

However, despite the popularity and wealth, the final part of his life was filled with struggles of debts and depression. Rumors say that his health drastically declined when he isolated himself from his family, friends and financial turmoil. People from all over the world loved him, yet he died lonely, depressed and broken hearted.

I refer to the King of Pop's final years on this world as his last moon walk. Like his moon walk, Michael Jackson's life failed to move forward because he was being drawn backward by the circumstances of his life. But unlike the moon walk, all the drawbacks in his life were not mere illusions. Below are three lessons in life which I have taken from the King of Pop's final moon walk.

1.) Don't spend more than what you have - Even though the King of Pop, Michael Jackson, earned more than a million dollars each year, it was said that he spent more than $20 to $30 million more than what he earns only to support his luxuriant lifestyle. This type of lifestyle brought about financial problems during the latter part of his life. Many wealthy people, such as a Bahrain sheik, charged the King of Pop of neglecting to pay debts he owed. The King of Pop also lost Neverland Ranch, a place beloved to him. Even though his assets weigh more than his debt, the King of Pop died leaving more than $400 million of debt. Yes, he may the right to live luxuriantly and as a "star" he seemed to deserved it, but the King of Pop could have learned to live within what he earns and had his other assets wisely taken care. His failure to employ such strategy not only added problems but also heightened his depression.

2.) Life may be tough, but you've got to learn to face your problems - Michael Jackson may have achieved a certain amount of success in his life, but he never learned to face his problems. When he became depressed he turned to anything from plastic surgery, isolation and drug abuse. After he was accused of child molestation, he was so depressed that he was never the same again. J Randy Taraborrelli described how he escaped from his problem in an article for the daily mail, "He surrounded himself with children, animals and a false reality - so much so that he never learned how to cope in the real world. He never wanted to grow up, and his managers encouraged these eccentricities when they should have encouraged therapy."

3.) True happiness and joy does not come from fame and fortune - It cannot be disputed that Michael Jackson's achievements in life were far beyond the ordinary. He not only made and broke records, changed the norm of music, or paved the way to unity among races, but he has also earned the love and adoration of millions of people around the globe. But in all these achievements, Michael Jackson isolated himself from his family and friends and eventually his died being lonely, despondent, depressed and the feeling of people hating him.

Helio Gracie--patriarch of the legendary Gracie MMA family--died earlier this year in Rio De Janeiro at age 95. His influence on martial arts, and even more so the sport that is known known as mixed martial arts, is staggering. The Gracie family name will forever be synonymous with Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, MMA and the UFC due to the accomplishments of Helio Gracie and his progeny.

Helio Gracie began his training in mixed martial arts early, and by his teenage years was already teaching judo. While he had no problem mastering the theoretical aspects of judo, he found that many of its techniques were less effective for a practitioner with a smaller build. Along with his brother Carlos, Gracie began to work out his own fighting system by adapting many of judo's techniques and making them more a product of leverage rather than brute strength. This led to the creation of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (BJJ), frequently called Gracie Jiu Jitsu in his honor.

Gracie also had a professional fighting career of his own, taking on champions from other fighting disciplines in an early version of modern MMA. These bouts were arduous, unregulated affairs with arbitrary rules and no time limits. By his own recollection, Gracie fought 15 times against the top opponents of his time. He began his career in'32 by submitting professional boxer Antonio Portugal in just 32 seconds. Later that year, he fought American catch wrestler Frank Ebert to a draw after the ringside doctor ordered the bout stopped after an ungodly fourteen ten minute rounds.

His most famous battle was against Japanese judo legend Masahiko Kimura, resulting in a rare loss for Gracie. Despite the setback, he fought bravely and may have actually enhanced his legend after refusing to submit to a reverse arm bar (the same move that now bears Kimuras name). Only after his arm was broken did his brother Carlos throw in the towel.

Gracie's greatest impact, however, may have been through his progeny which is an important part of Brazilian sports and mixed martial arts even today. Royce Gracie is well known as the first UFC superstar, while sons Rickson Royler, Renzo have also achieved considerable fame in professional MMA. At the time of his death, Helio Gracie was a 6th Dan Judo black belt and the only living 10th degree master of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.

The cause of Gracies death was officially given as natural causes. He had been having stomach problems for several days prior to his passing, and was admitted to a Rio hospital for this reason. His seriously epic last words will go down as a fitting envoi to a man who gave so much of himself to fighting:

In a matchup between two of the worst offenses in the NFL, someone had to win. Despite producing only 9 first downs and'3 yards of total offense, the Cleveland Browns got a late game field goal from Billy Cundiff to defeat the Buffalo Bills 6-3 and win their first game of the season. The Bills had the more productive afternoon statistically, with- first downs and 288 yards of offense but were undone by three costly turnovers. Both teams are now 1-4 on the 2009 NFL season. Neither team appears to be headed anywhere but down in the NFL standings.

To successfully bet on the NFL, one needs to find opportunities to play underdogs"this is particularly true in games where neither team is expected to put many points on the board. Such was the case here, as Cleveland easily covered the pointspread as +6 road underdogs. Both teams are now 2-3 against the number on the season. Buffalo has lost to winless teams in back to back weeks, part of a three game losing streak. Overall, the Bills have wound up losers in 12 of their last 15 games. Not that Cleveland has done much better--the win today ended a 10 game losing streak, one short of the all time franchise record.

Cleveland will have a tough road assignment next Sunday, heading to Pittsburgh to face the World Champion Steelers. Theyll return home for a game against the Green Bay Packers on October 25th before playing the Chicago Bears in The Windy City the following week. Buffalo will play the next two on the road, heading to the Meadowlands next Sunday for a game against the New York Jets followed by a trip to Charlotte, NC to take on the Carolina Panthers. Esposito was born in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario and his prodigious hockey talent quickly became apparent. He was signed by the Chicago Blackhawks as a teenager, and made his NHL debut in'64. In'67, Esposito was traded to the Boston Bruins along with Ken Hodge and Fred Stanfield. Within a few years Hodge and Stanfield blossomed into All Stars, while Esposito quickly took his place alongside his former teammate Hull as the best scorer in the league.

It was as a Bruin that 'Espo' began his onslaught against the NHL record book.. In'69, he became the first NHL player to top the 100 point mark (combined goals and assists) for the season"he obliterated the record with 126 points, which would be the first of six times that hed top the century mark. He topped 100 points in five straight seasons between'71 and'75, missing a sixth straight season by a single point with 99 in'70.

In the'70-71 season, Esposito smashed the NHL record for most goals in a season with 76. That record stood for over a decade until Wayne Gretzky scored 79 for the Edmonton Oilers in'81-82. Gretzky also broke Espositos single season points record of 154. Even now, only four other players including Gretzky have scored more than 150 points in a season and only five others have scored more than 76 goals in a season. Most people do not regard this form of communication as mental telepathy since here communication is through senses and not just with sounds. Theoretically, this argument holds good. Steelers End Vikings Undefeated Run

Brett Favre and the Minnesota Vikings are undefeated no more. The Pittsburgh Steelers' used a couple of big plays from their defense in the fourth quarter to break open a close game and defeat the Vikings by a final score of 27-17. Favre put up decent yardage in the loss, throwing for 334 yards but had no touchdowns and an interception.

NFL pointspread players who backed the Steelers as -6 home favorites were rewarded with the cover. Pittsburgh had only covered one of their first six games heading into the contest, and the win improved their record against the number to 2-5. Minnesota dropped to 4-3 against the spread with the setback.

The Steelers largely shut down Minnesota's rushing game, holding Adrian Peterson to 69 yards. Pittsburgh safety Ryan Clark underscored his team's dominance against the run:

"That's the biggest point of the game. You have the best running back in the world and you don't give it to him. They're saying they can't beat us running, and that's a major statement when you have the guy they have back there."

Favre gave a feeble justification for the loss in his postgame interview:

"There were a lot of what ifs, a lot of reasons we didn't win. The red zone was one of them. They're physical, and they were as good as we thought they'd be. ... When I came here and looked at our schedule and saw the Steelers game, I went, 'Oh-h-h.' "

Favre has only thrown three interceptions in a Vikings' uniform, but #3 was a costly one as it was returned by Steelers' Keyaron Fox for a touchdown to put the game out of reach as Minnesota was driving for a potential game tying field goal. Afterwards, Fox recalled the play:

The Vikings now face another big game next week as they head to Favre's old stomping grounds in Green Bay for a battle with the Packers. Carson Palmer threw for five touchdowns with no interceptions in the blowout victory.

Here's the tagline: Suddenly he could see through clothes, flesh... and walls! Riveting, eh? Well, what can you say about the '63 classic, X: THE MAN WITH X-RAY EYES. It's a bona fide cult classic and it's hip to dig these days. Hipsters love nothing more than to quibble about the alternate ending and whether or not Ray Milland, the titular man with X-ray eyes, did it all for the money. The answer: of course he did it for the money.

It's a farce of a fable -- a kind of Oedipus Rex for the mid-Sixties zeitgeist. A brilliant researcher, played by Milland, discovers a compound that when squirted on the eyes allows the person to see through a patient. It's contact lens care sans the contacts. It's X-ray in a bottle. It's out there. Of course, his quest to save humanity from incredible suffering backfires, as it should given that it's a Roger Corman flick.

As it happens, Milland accidentally tosses a colleague out of a window and has to go on the lam. His fugitive adventures see him help diagnose diseases and losing his mind and having to wear dark glasses to shield his sensitive eyes. Did I mention his eyes have turned completely black? He has a turn as a carnie and a gambler before he sets out into the desert to be alone.

Who can blame him? When you can see through everyone -- literally -- the fun kind of goes out of having people around. But, as movie logic would have it, Milland stumbles upon a tent revival in the middle of the desert. When he tells the preacher that he is beginning to see through the very fabric of the universe, the preachers quotes Bible scripture: "If thy eye offends thee, pluck it out."

Sound advice. In a fit of relief and madness -- of course the two go hand in hand in a Corman film -- Milland does just that. He loses his mind, claiming to see through the earth itself, and gouges out his own eyes. Now, the hipster controversy comes with whether or not the alternate ending had him screaming, "I can still see!" Corman denies that was ever said, but the rumor persists. - 29306

Chicago Blackhawks' Great Stan Mikita

While NHL hockey players from the country formerly known as Czechoslovakia"as well as other Eastern European nations"are commonplace today, Chicago Blackhawks great Stan Mikita was something of a pioneer. Other players with a flashier game such as Bobby Hull became better known, but you can make a compelling case that Mikita was the best center iceman in professional hockey during the'60s. Mikita was born in Sokolce, in what is now known as Slovakia. He was sent by his family to the Toronto, Ontario area as a young boy to avoid the political strife in the area prior to World War II. An aunt and uncle adopted him, and he changed his name from his birth name of Stanislav Guoth adopting their last name of Mikita. Like most young Canadian boys, he started playing hockey and quickly proved to have an impressive aptitude for the national sport.

As a teenager, Mikita starred for the St. Catherine Teepees of the junior league Ontario Hockey Association. In'59, he made the jump to the NHL for good joining the Chicago Blackhawks. He played sparingly in his first partial season in the NHL, but quickly became an important part of the Chicago offense in his first and second full seasons as a pro. In'61, he led the team in playoff scoring as they won the Stanley Cup"his only championship during his career and the last time the franchise would win the NHLs highest team honor.

The following year was when Mikita really began to make a mark in professional hockey. Centering the dangerous Scooter Line with Ken Wharram on the right wing and Ab McDonald or Doug Mohns on the left wing, he became one of the most feared offensive scorers and playmakers in the league. While he played in the media shadow of Bobby Hull, Mikita was considered by most hockey cognoscenti to be the real offensive catalyst of the team.

Mikita wasn't a one way player by any means--he was a tenacious defender and one of the best faceoff men in the sport. He's also responsible for introducing the curved stick blade to the NHL. It was a radical innovation at the time, but now players who *don't* play with a curved blade are a rarity.

When he first came to the NHL, Mikita was a tough, hard hitting player who spent a considerable amount of time in the penalty box. That changed in the mid'60's when he became a very sportsmanlike player almost overnight. This cleaner style of play would earn him the Lady Byng Trophy for most gentlemanly player twice. The story goes that he had a change of heart when his young daughter asked why he spent so much time sitting in the box on televised games.

In addition to his Stanley Cup victory, Mikitas career accomplishments rank among the most impressive in the history of the sport. He won the Art Ross Trophy as the NHLs leading scorer four times (1964,'65,'67,'68), the Hart Memorial Trophy for Most Valuable Player twice (1967 and'68) and the Lady Byng Trophy in'67 and'68. He remains the only player in NHL history to win the Ross, Hart and Byng trophies in the same season (1967).

Mikita suffered from chronic back ailments later in his career, and finally retired in'80 having played his entire career for the Chicago Blackhawks. He was voted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in his first year of eligibility (1983) and became enshrined in pop culture history a few years later thanks to the movie 'Wayne's World'. In the movie, protagonists Wayne and Garth frequently hang out at a donut shop based on the Canadian Tim Hortons chain. The name of the shop is Stan Mikitas Donuts. - 29306

1) The Notebook - Here's your spoiler alert: they die together. Okay? He adores her, she doesn't know who he is because she has alzheimers. Jude Law and Jack Black are great love-interests, that provide lots of smiles and enough sexy co-mingling to keep your man's interest. You are even treated to a Hollywood star played by Eli Wallach, who has been forgotten, but gets reacquainted with the world with the help of Kate Winslet. This storyline is very touching, but also funny. The characters will make you laugh and will tug at your heartstrings a bit. Your man should be feeling all warm and cozy after this movie!

While it may take some amateurs a lot of time to come to grips with the technology and settings, the workflow is quite adaptive after a few weeks and you can be making your own signature sounds. Tools for the task can be found online, but if you are into audio then you may already have some of the programs installed. If you have some drum samples to start with, that is the best way to go at the beginning instead of synthesizing your own sounds. You can grab free audio editors like Audacity, which is a free software program that can be downloaded (just Google it, it will be the first result!) and installed within seconds (it only works on PCs, though). If you are on a Mac, there are some free programs as well. The operations that need to be performed can be as varied as you want them to be, from cropping to equalization and more.

If you are more comfortable in programs like Reason, FL Studio and Sonar, you can do what you want to the audio and then simply export the wav sound. So if you've applied some good effects and want the drum sample as it stands right now, simply export that channel by itself. A true Twi-Hard knows their trivia. Have guests play a game of Twilight Jeopardy. Have question based on the Series. Try to make it interesting by including little known facts and trivia that only devoted fans of the series would be able to know.

The virtual guitar is the discovery of Aki Kinerva and other PC scientists from the Helsinki Varsity of Technology. All that you need is a couple of gloves and a camera. Then you take a rock star pose, like you were holding a genuine guitar and just rock away.

The camera will be tracking your hand movement along the hypothetical fret board, as well as the strumming of the other hand. Then the PC will receive the info and turn the gestures into licks and riffs. While you may possibly not share the stage with Eric Clapton, the system gives any individual an opportunity to feel a bit like a rock megastar.
